Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished (content has not been previously published in Journals/Annals of Events, etc.) and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • The authors declare that the text appropriately uses the citation rules, avoiding what can be considered academic plagiarism. In addition, the authors are aware that plagiarism constitutes a crime against intellectual property (Lei 10.695, de 01 de Julho de 2003).
  • All submission files are in Microsoft Word format.
  • All URL addresses in the text (e.g.: are active.
  • The text follows the formatting requirements of the journal under the Authors Guidelines found in sections \"About\" and in TEMPLATE.
  • The identification of the author has been removed, the author's name was removed in \"Document Properties\", on the option menu \"File\" from MS Word.
  • All authors are presented to metadata of the submission and their respective information of professional experience and academic formation (full information is essential for evaluation).
  • All illustrations are inserted in the text with the resolution of 300 dpi (at least) and in JPG file.

Author Guidelines

Rules for submitting the manuscripts 

1. For publication in Sociedade & Natureza Journal, it will be accepted unpublished articles from empirical, experimental or conceptual research, resulting from masters and doctoral theses or similar standard with special emphasis on Geography Science (minimum 15 and maximum 20 pages). 

2. The editorial will judge the relevance of the publication of articles from related areas (which necessarily must include territorial and spatial approach). Papers not directed at the focus of the journal will be deleted from the assessment list. 

3. Only submissions in Portuguese, Spanish and English will be accepted. 

4. Papers should be edited according to the TEMPLATE available on the journal website. 

5. Files must have a maximum file size of 12 MB. 

6. In no case should the author(s) be identified (at the beginning of the text, along the same or in the organization of Illustrations or Tables). All such data must be entered into the manuscript after its assessment, when the publishers request due corrections of the article for publication. 

7. All authors must be registered separately in the electronic submission form (as well as their area of expertise, qualification and affiliation). The lack of such information will lead to direct exclusion of the submission. In no event, authors will be added or removed after acceptance. 

8. Papers in English should be accompanied by the title and abstract (Portuguese or Spanish). 

9. After the title (in two languages) a summary should be presented followed by an abstract (for Portuguese texts) ou resumen and abstract (for Spanish texts), no longer than 250 words with a minimum of three and five keywords at most describing the content of the paper in the original language and in another language. Do not use automatic translation for abstracts. It is recommended to undergo professional expert review. 

10. Do not use footnotes, endnotes or headers. 

11. Illustrations/tables must have 300 dpi resolution at least, cannot exceed one-page size or page margins and will not be published in portrait orientation. 

12. Use only illustrations/tables, which are essential to the understanding of the text. Avoid excessive use of illustration. Low-resolution and no observation of the minimum resolution (300 dpi) will imply in the refusal of the manuscript. 

13. Illustrations (drawings, flowcharts, photos, graphs, maps, organograms, charts, pictures, images, among others) and tables must be preceded by their designative word. Their identification must be placed above their body, numbered consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text, with Arabic numbers, dash and its corresponding title, which should not appear in the illustration. 

14. The illustration/table should be keyed in the text and inserted as close as possible to the section to which it refers. 

15. Please ensure the indication is typed in the text after the Illustrations/Tables) as followed: source (e.g.: Source: IBGE, 2000.), organization (e.g.: Org. by the Author, 2000.) or adaptation (e.g.: Adapted from Silva, 2000.). 

16. The article has to be submitted on the journal's website, where the Editor will sent it to two reviewers from the Advisory Board or ad hoc reviewers, who will evaluate the paper. The evaluating process is carried out in anonymity and with academic parity of the evaluators. Submission to this journal proceeds totally online (WEB), on the journal website. PEER REVIEW Submitted papers to evaluation will undergo technical review for plagiarism analysis on Plagius platform. The editorial team checks the data. In case of occurrences of plagiarism, just a paragraph without its proper citation is sufficient for the article to be returned along with the reviewer's comments. Regarding to self-plagiarism, a manuscript may have less than 10% overall similarity or 50% when it is the result of master's or doctoral thesis. Above it, the article is sent to the author with the indication of the problem for necessary changes to be resubmit to the Journal. Cases of plagiarism reported to the Journal after the publication of the articles will be analysed by the Editorial Committee and, in the event of confirmation of the complaint, the article will be removed from the Journal immediately. Penalties may also be applied to authors. We strongly recommend that authors are aware of the COPE guidelines (Committee on Publication Ethics) about advice on a wide range of ethical issues pertaining to the peer review process and academic publishing.
